We’re a family in Toronto who love reptiles. It started simply: people kept reaching out to surrender snakes and small animals they could no longer care for, and we couldn’t say no. So we take them in — no judgment — make sure they’re healthy and comfortable, and then match them with people who’ll give them a great long-term home.
What we are (and what we’re not)
To be clear about what we are: we’re not a pet store, and we’re not a registered rescue or charity. We don’t take donations or issue receipts. We’re just hobbyists who care. Surrendering a reptile to us is always free — there’s never a cost to give one up. When an animal is adopted, the rehoming fee we ask — typically $50–$100 — goes toward food, enclosures, substrate, and any vet care that animal needed while it was with us.
Who we are
Toronto Reptiles is run by Olivia and Chris Birkbeck — experienced reptile keepers with years of hands-on experience across a wide range of species. We’ve kept everything from small geckos to large constrictors, and we bring that depth of knowledge to every intake, care decision, and rehoming conversation. We’re a small household that opened our home because we believe every reptile deserves knowledgeable, committed care.
