General & booking
What ages are your experiences good for?
Our birthday parties work best for kids 3 and up. The experience scales nicely to adult audiences too. Terrarium workshops start at ages 4 (Kids’ Moss), 6 (Tropical Jungle), 8 (Isopod Bioactive), and 12+ (advanced Vivarium build).
Do I need any experience?
None. Every workshop is beginner-friendly by design — we walk you through every step. We also scale up the challenge for advanced builders (like our Bioactive Vivarium workshop).
Are the animals safe?
Absolutely. Every animal is hand-raised, fully socialized, and supervised by a trained handler at all times. We only bring animals that are calm with groups of children.
How far in advance should we book?
2–4 weeks ahead is ideal, especially for weekends. We do our best to accommodate shorter timelines — just ask.
When are you available?
Weeknight evenings and all day on weekends. We’re currently not booking weekday daytime sessions.
How do I get a quote?
Use the form at the bottom of any page, or the pricing calculator on the Birthday Party page. We confirm pricing and availability within 24 hours.
Birthday parties
How much space do you need?
A standard living room, basement, or party room is plenty. We set up on a small table and bring the animals out one at a time, so you don’t need a huge area.
How long is a party?
Our signature birthday experience runs 1 hour. We also offer a 1.5-hour option for bigger groups or longer attention spans.
How many animals do you bring?
Parties start with 5 animals included in the base price. You can scale up to 10 for larger groups or extra variety — each additional animal is $25.
What about allergies?
Reptile allergies are rare but do exist. Let us know in advance if anyone at the party has known scale/dander allergies and we’ll adjust the lineup accordingly.
Can we request specific animals?
Every standard party includes a crowd-pleasing selection. If you have a child who’s especially excited about (or nervous about) a particular animal, let us know and we’ll plan accordingly.
Can we combine a birthday party with a terrarium workshop?
Absolutely — it’s one of our favourite combos. We can pair a shorter animal visit with a kid-friendly terrarium build. Mention it in your inquiry and we’ll put together a custom quote.
Terrarium workshops
How long do the terrariums last?
A properly built bioactive terrarium can easily last years — decades, even — with minimal maintenance. The isopods and springtails reproduce, decompose waste, and keep the soil alive. We cover long-term care in every workshop and back it up with email support.
Are the isopods alive? Will they escape?
Yes, they’re alive — that’s the whole point. They’re harmless, tiny (a few millimetres), and stay happily inside their sealed or partially sealed habitat. They’re one of nature’s most effective clean-up crews.
What if someone is squeamish about bugs?
Participants can choose the Tropical Jungle Terrarium (no live critters) or simply observe the isopod portion of the build. No one is ever pressured to handle anything.
How much space do you need for a workshop?
A standard dining table or two folding tables. For larger groups, we bring our own tablecloth-protected surfaces if needed.
What's included in a workshop?
Every participant walks away with a complete, finished terrarium: glass vessel, layered substrate, live plants and moss, live isopods/springtails where applicable, all tools, a printed care guide, and lifetime email support.
Is it messy?
Not really, but there is soil involved. We recommend an indoor space with a hard-surface floor or an outdoor covered area when the weather’s right.
How many people can join a workshop?
Workshops work great with 4–25 participants. For larger groups we can split into sessions or add a second host. Minimum group size is 4.
Travel & areas served
Where do you travel?
We cover the entire GTA — Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Ajax, Pickering, and surrounding areas. Travel fees may apply for farther destinations.
How is travel priced?
Travel is billed at $0.50/km round trip from our base near Kennedy & Lawrence in Toronto. The pricing calculator on the Birthday Party page gives you a live estimate when you enter your address.
Do you have a minimum booking?
Birthday parties start at $250 for a 1-hour, 5-animal experience. Workshops have a 4-participant minimum. Travel is added on top based on distance.
Venue partners & corporate
I run a bar / distillery / café — how do venue partnerships work?
We partner with GTA venues to host public, ticketed Terrarium & Cocktails Nights (or non-alcoholic equivalents). We bring every supply and run the session; you drive F&B revenue. We’ll work out flat-fee or revenue-share terms based on what fits your venue. Reach out and mention you’re a venue partner.
Do you do corporate events?
Yes — corporate offsites, team-builds, holiday parties, and after-work socials are one of our favourite formats. Both reptile experiences and terrarium workshops work brilliantly. Every corporate event is custom-quoted — send us a note with your group size, venue, and goals.
What kinds of venues work best for terrarium nights?
Cocktail bars, distilleries, breweries, natural wine bars, cafés, plant shops, bookstores, community studios, hotel lobbies, and private event spaces. Basically anywhere with tables, good lighting, and a crowd that likes to do something with their hands.
